DIRECTIONS TO FRANZ-JOSEFS-HÖHE

Arriving by car: The starting point to the high alpine center Oberwalderhütte

is the Franz-Josefs-Höhe at the end of the Grossglockner High Alpine toll road. If travelling from the north come via Zell am See and in the south via Spital an der Drau or Lienz.

 

 

DIRECTIONS TO THE HOCHALPINZENTRUM OBERWALDERHUT:

For ski touring:

You can  reach the hut from Franz - Josefs-height (2.312m) through the tunnel (Wintertor) over  Gamsgrubenweg to the Wasserfallwinkel. Over the Southern Bockkarkees to Hochalpinzentrum Oberwalderhut.

In the summer:

Over the Gamsgrubenweg through the open tunnel, you reach the new, well-marked summer trail. The hut is accessible without barely crossing the glacier in about 2.5 hours, for guests with less alpine experience it is also easily accessible.
